We are holding a sponsored walk/cycle ride on the 12th May 2019 to raise funds for the replacement of our minibus.
Over the past few years our minibus has become a drain on our finances due to repairs and general wear. We require the minibus to convey students between our sites three times a day, and for taking students on external trips. On top of the cost it has become unreliable, and broken down on a number of occasions. We are aiming to replace the excisting vehicle with 2 nine seater vehicles, one for each of our sites.Having two vehicles will provide greater flexibility and speed up the change over process
so Far we have raised £15,000 and are just over half way to being able to purchase the first of the 9 seaters. This money has come from fund raising events and a number of generous donations. We are keen to raise the rest of the funds as quickly as possible, so we asked our students whether they had any ideas to help our cause.
One of our students came up with the idea of a sponsored cycle ride, or walk, from Toddlers Cove in Canterbury to Chartham and back. The route will be approx 6 miles on a multi-user, traffic free path along National Cycle Route 18. Following the River Stour the route is tranquil and suitable for everyone, taking in some areas of beautiful countryside including an area of marsh land, Lakes and traditional meadow land.
