Fifth Trust News

Thank you, volunteers!

01 June 2021

This is Volunteers’ Week, the annual celebration of the vital role people play in organisations large and small by giving up their time to help others.

Like many charities, The Fifth Trust is hugely grateful to have a regular band of volunteers who support our work. Sadly, since the first national lockdown in March 2020, they have been unable to come along to our skills centres because of the ongoing restrictions we have in place to protect our students.

But as soon as the final step in lifting lockdown is taken, we will be warmly welcoming them back – and encouraging others in our local community to give volunteering with us a go.

“We have all missed having volunteers on-site, some have been coming to us for a long time and are really part of The Fifth Trust family,” said CEO Nikki Marley. “It will be great to see them again.”

With such a wide variety of sessions on offer to students, there’s plenty of different activities for volunteers to get involved in – from pottery and photography to cooking and crafts.

Once the final Covid-19 restrictions are lifted, which will happen no sooner than 21 June, and we are able to return to normal, we would love to hear from anyone with an interest in our services for adults with learning disabilities and some regular time to offer. Please email [email protected] if you would like to be contacted then about visiting us to find out more.
