New bus shelter for village

09 September 2021

Chartham has a smart new bus shelter, built and installed by The Fifth Trust’s Wood Shack team.

The parish council turned to us when a lorry hit the previous shelter and left it unsafe. In fact, it is the second time our carpenters have come to the rescue – the shelter before that was also badly damaged in an incident involving a lorry several years ago!

“We turned to The Fifth Trust again because we were so pleased with their work,” said parish councillor Carol Manning, whose son David is one of our students.

The Wood Shack is one of our social enterprises. Guided by an expert carpentry instructor, adults with learning disabilities help in the creation of larger wooden items – like bus shelters! They also make our ever-popular log stores and garden benches and table and chair sets. Made from locally sourced, sustainable supplies, all items can be built to our own or bespoke designs.
