Team5T get on their bikes

14 September 2021

A big thank you to everyone who sponsored The Fifth Trust cycling team in the 50k KM Big Bike Ride on 12 September.

Care manager Mike Theoff and his son, logs supervisor Jake; finance manager Gareth Owen-Conway; social enterprises manager Peter Stratton; garden centre supervisor Jo Taylor; communications manager Jane Ward and her husband George took part in the challenge.

The weather was perfect for cycling – pleasantly warm and sunny with only light winds. The team set out from Betteshanger Park on a picturesque route which thankfully packed in most of the steep hills in the first 20 kilometres! Unfortunately a bad puncture put a premature end to Jo’s ride, despite the best efforts of fellow cyclists (pictured) which kept her on the road until she had to give up three quarters of the way round, but she is still determined to clock up the full mileage at a later date – watch this space!

The cyclists have already raised £1,050 in sponsorship which will be shared 70:30 between us and Inspire Schools, the educational foundation run by the event organiser, KM Charity Team.

You can still support our fundraising efforts, which enable us to provide the best quality and range of services for our students with learning disabilities, by donating via The Fifth Trust website.
