Alex is our champion
22 September 2021
After growing his hair for two years, 10-year-old Alex Ivil finally decided to submit to the hairdresser’s scissors when he got fed up of his fringe flopping over his eyes.
But after so long without a cut, the Bridge youngster decided he would use the occasion to raise money for The Fifth Trust by asking family and friends for sponsorship. The response was remarkable – Alex raised an incredible £1,285 for us!
“The initial goal was £50 – we had no idea this was going to happen,” said Alex’s mum Anna. “We’re really proud of Alex for thinking of others like this.”
Alex enjoys coming to the Vineyard café for a slice of dairy-free cake and said he chose us because we help people and “everyone who works at The Fifth Trust is kind and friendly”.
To thank Alex for being our fundraising champion, print instructor Reima Barton, pictured, and her students made him this special trophy.
The Fifth Trust CEO Nikki Marley said: “We were blown away by the success of Alex’s sponsored haircut and are so grateful that he chose to support us. All the money he has raised will directly benefit our students by helping us fund equipment and resources for the sessions we offer.”
