Perfect pumpkins
06 October 2023
Students of The Fifth Trust have harvested a crop of perfect pumpkins at our Barham Skills Centre.
In June this year, we welcomed autism specialist Ripplevale School to work on the special 'Project Pumpkin', where they helped prepare our allotments and plant a small quantity of pumpkins and courgettes ready for autumn harvest.
Our students have been harvesting the pumpkins and aubergines from the vegetable patches this last month, and the results? A (literal) enormous success!
An array of aubergines and huge pumpkins in beautiful colours were harvested.
Most of the produce will make its way down to our Vineyard Garden Centre to be sold to customers, raising vital funds for our charity.
One of the giant pumpkins was sent down to our Cook Club at Elham Valley Vineyard to make a delicious warming pumpkin soup to feed the group of volunteers who helped at our vineyard harvest earlier today.
