Recycling champions

29 January 2024

The Fifth Trust raised over £300 from their Christmas tree recycling scheme.

Throughout January, customers were able to recycle their real Christmas trees at our Vineyard Garden Centre for a minimum donation of £5. The trees were chipped by local tree surgeons Tree Guys Kent and will be reused throughout The Fifth Trust’s sites in compost, pathways and more.

Our horticulture students got involved too, transporting the trees to the chipping site, and helping pile up all the woodchip.

Garden centre supervisor Lyndsey Wall said: “Thank you to all our supporters who recycled their trees with us. Supporting this sustainable initiative is not only great for the environment, but it also helps us support our 170 students with learning disabilities. Every penny raised is ploughed back into our charity.

“Thank you to Tree Guys Kent for your generosity. Your donated time, materials and expertise made this wonderful scheme a success.”

We are hoping to run our Christmas tree recycling scheme again in 2025. Want to keep up to date with the latest news? Then subscribe to our monthly newsletter.
