Learning disability week: Do you see me?
17 June 2024
It is learning disability week from today until Sunday 23 June 2024.
This year's theme is "Do you see me?" which is all about being seen, heard and valued. "Do you see me?" is about challenging the barriers people with a learning disability face.
We want to celebrate the things people with a learning disability bring to society. At The Fifth Trust, we have a vision of a world where every person with a learning disability can access life-enhancing opportunities tailored to their individual needs. Our mission is to encourage and challenge our students with learning disabilities to do and be the best that they can.
We aim to be an educator to the wider community to promote greater inclusion of people with learning disabilities.
Our social enterprises are a great way we achieve this. Our students smash stereotypes and partake in fulfilling work alongside fellow students, staff, and members of public.
Across The Fifth Trust’s social enterprises our students get busy baking and cooking delicious food at our Vineyard Café, growing vegetables in our polytunnels, and serving customers with a smile at our Vineyard Garden Centre - they are always on hand to help.
Keep your eyes peeled on our social media pages and news section throughout this week to learn more about what we do and the ways our students are smashing stigmas and challenging barriers at The Fifth Trust.
