5Tfundraiser: Week 2 summary

19 July 2024

We have completed another exciting week of fundraising to rebuild our music room, and what a week it has been!

Our fundraising manager, Mick James, embarked on an incredible 26km walk along the historic Pilgrims Way. Meanwhile, our horticulture instructor Laurence Jordan and education lead Tom German, along with a group of enthusiastic students and staff, completed an impressive 15.3km walk from Barham Skills Centre to Canterbury Cathedral. Their combined efforts alone added up to an astonishing 166km!

Throughout the week, our students continued to take part in scavenger hunts at the vineyard, finding a range of interesting objects and wildlife while adding to our overall distance travelled.

All these efforts have taken us to an outstanding 315km to date, already smashing our initial target of 222km, the length of the Pilgrims Way.

Mick said: ‘Our amazing staff and students have shown incredible commitment and spirit. While we have already exceeded our distance goal, we are currently at 64% of our fundraising target, so we need your help to push things forward.’

‘A special thanks to volunteer Robin and his wife for providing some delicious food to staff and students at the end of our pilgrimage.’

Our fundraising activities will conclude on 26 July with return of our Team5T Triathlon. CEO Nikki Marley will brave a 2km swim, care & operations manager Mike Theoff will gear up for an 80km cycle, and our chair Suzanne O’Brien will take us over the finish line with a 5km run.

We need your help to reach our goal. Please consider donating at: www.justgiving.com/campaign/5Tfundraiser.

Thank you for your continued support.
