Big Give: Rebuild our music room!

05 November 2024

We’re excited to announce our second Big Give Christmas Challenge, which will take place from midday 3 December - 10 December. This year, we're raising funds to rebuild our music room at our Elham Valley Vineyard site, transforming it into a purpose-built space with a dedicated recording studio to allow our students to fully explore their musical potential.

Why this matters

In the UK, only 44,320 of the 869,000 registered learning disabled adults are in work, with just 58,000 accessing day services. This leaves many learning disabled adults isolated at home with limited opportunities for social interaction, personal development, and fulfilling activities. Our music sessions offer a vital, therapeutic outlet for our students, with 33% of them actively taking part in music activities as a way to express themselves, reduce anxiety, and improve communication and coordination.

What will your support achieve?

With your help, we’ll create a fully equipped music room with new, specialist equipment and recording facilities. This dedicated space will allow us to offer meaningful, tailored activities where our students can explore creativity, develop key skills like turn-taking and listening, and find joy in music as a form of expression and connection.

How the Big Give works

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest match-funded campaign. For seven days, donations are matched and doubled – meaning one donation has twice the impact! All funds raised will go directly towards the rebuild, contributing to our overall target of £50,000, which we hope to reach by summer 2025.

How you can take part

  • Save the date: The Big Give Christmas Challenge runs from midday 28 November until midday 5 December.
  • Donate and double your impact: Visit our campaign page at www.tinyurl.com/BigGiveTFT to make a donation, which will be doubled at no extra cost to you.
  • Share with friends and family: Spread the word so others can see their donations doubled, too.
  • Visit us at our craft fair: On 7 December, we’ll be at our Christmas craft fair to answer any questions and help walk you through the donation process.

You can watch our campaign video here.

Together, we can make this music room a reality and provide a truly enriching experience for our students. For more information, please email our fundraising manager, Mick James, at [email protected].
